I just got a Bas Bleu catalog--the first in years. YEAH!!! I'm glad to be back on their mailing list.
Also, Mom and Jim found the picture below. He's a relative but we have no idea who. Handsome, isn't he?

rereading
I've been rereading a couple of mystery authors: Patricia Wentworth and Alice Tilton (pseudonym for Phoebe Atwood Taylor). Both series are period pieces--around WWII. Before and after.
The Alice Tilton books are just crazy action and fun.
The Patricia Wentworth books are more cerebral and have intricate puzzles plus romantic subplots.

Virginia common thread
Right now I am alternating between Rita Mae Brown (Sneaky Pie series) and Elswyth Thane (the Williamsburg novels). I just realized that the common thread of these two series is the great state of Virginia.

still comfort reading
I am currently reading the Confederation novels by Tanya Huff. I really like them and can't wait for the next one. I hope there will be a next one but no word yet from Tanya Huff. She's busy working on the 3rd book in the Enchantment Emporium novel. An equally good series.

still Georgette Heyer
I'm still reading my way through the Regency romances of Georgette Heyer. They are very relaxing. I won't reread the historical novels though because I don't like them as much. They are equally well written but not what I care for.

observations
Well, I've moved on to the Georgette Heyer regency novels in my comfort reading marathon. I had never realized that some of her regency stories also included mysteries. Toll Gate and The Unknown Ajax come to mind. There are others I know but I can't think of them.

Comfort Reading
Lately, oh the past 6 months or so, I've been doing comfort reading. Reading books I'm very familiar width so I don't have to think and I know very well, books that fit like comfy sweats or pjs. My job has been stressful and I guess comfort reading is better than comfort eating (although I'm doing that as well).
The types of book I consider comfort reading are mysteries. The three authors I've been re-reading over and over again lately are Rita Mae Brown, Georgette Heyer, and most recently Nancy Atherton.
What started me thinking about what and why I'm reading was the release of Bless Me Ultima. That reminded me I enjoyed the book as well as Isabelle Allende, Michael Ondatje and other similar fiction authors. They tend to make me think more as well as science fiction which make them good reading but not good comfort reading.
Oh, I just realized I hadn't defined "comfort reading". I figured it was self explanatory like comfort food. Anyway, comfort reading is reading used to relax and soothe me. No thinking. No analysis. Just transportation into another person's world.

beginnings
I’m starting yet another blog. This
time I will remove the other two though. I’ve lost interest in both
of them and I don’t need another unfinished (that’s how they feel
to me) item hanging around.
This one is about books because I am a
reader. Being a reader has moved me from just reading a book to
taking book making classes in college (manymany years ago) to making
art books through my local rubber stamp store. She has other classes
as well but I take mostly the book making ones.
The name comes from my user name while
at Mills College. It also describes an important side of me.
I will try to post something once a
week but there are no guarantees. Work and health (and inclination
occasionally) get in the way of my good intentions.
At the moment, I have at least 2 books
that are not completed. My goal for February is to finish those 2
books. The first step will be to find them in my craft room. I will
now put on my exploration gear and find them
